DIE SCHWANGERE BRAUT MIT DEM KLINGELBEUTEL, Städtische Kunsthalle Düsseldorf

THE PREGNANT BRIDE WITH THE COLLECTION-BAG

I stand still and congruent to the photographic object ‘Die Wurfmesserbraut’ (the bride of the throwing knife). Eventually I step out of the picture, go and get the collection-bag, which has the form of a huge condom and is fixed onto the wall, and start collecting money for the relic of
St. Erectus. If someone refuses to give money, the unborn child within me starts to cry bitterly. The embryo only stops if more money is put into the collection-bag. I distribute small devotional pictures showing the relic of St. Erectus, which is the central piece of the bridal installation. I put the collected coins into an alms box made of Perspex glass, which is right next to the bridal installation.
